Built so you never have to watch the watcher
A tool that sees your network should be the most trustworthy app on your computer. Here is how Defendingo earns that.
Read-only by design
Defendingo only watches. It never blocks connections, ends programs, deletes your files or changes your firewall or security settings. The only things it adds are its own: a startup task, a right-click menu entry, and its updates. It can't break your apps.
Your history stays home
Everything Defendingo records is stored on your own computer and removed after 90 days. There is no account, no cloud copy and no analytics.
A dashboard only you can open
The app's dashboard only opens on your own computer. Other devices on your network can't reach it, and websites in your browser can't read it.
Signed updates
Updates are signed with a key kept offline, never on this website's server. The app checks the signature and the fingerprint of every file, and refuses anything that doesn't match.
Honest about its rights
Defendingo asks for administrator rights once, so Windows reports every connection to it and lets it start with your computer. After that, the background guard runs with those rights at every startup and uses them only to watch. Programs you start with "Run with Defendingo" never get extra rights.
Quiet on the network
Defendingo only goes online to check for updates, to fetch public lists of which company owns which addresses once a week, and to ask your normal DNS server for the public name of an address. Your history is never part of that.
If Windows Security raises an eyebrow
Defendingo isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may call it an "Unknown publisher" the first time. And tools that look at other programs can trigger Windows Security's automatic guesses, whose names end in !ml (machine learning). That's a guess, not a known virus.
- Only download Defendingo here, from defendingo.com.
- Check the fingerprint of your download against the one on the download page.
- Keep Windows Security on. Defendingo works alongside it, not instead of it.
